How Mehali Papers Is Strengthening India’s Packaging Industry
When India embraced economic liberalization in the early 1990s, only a few Indian business houses had the foresight to invest in scale, quality, and long-term reputation. Among those visionaries was the Nathani family—entrepreneurs with a deep understanding of the paper industry and a track record to prove it.
Today, their newest venture, Mehali Papers Pvt. Ltd., is poised to play a defining role in the next chapter of India’s packaging and printing revolution.
A Strong Foundation Built on Experience
Mehali Papers Pvt. Ltd. isn’t just another entrant in the paper industry—it is a continuation of a legacy. The Nathani family previously founded Ruby Macons Ltd., based in Vapi, which over 25 years became India’s largest manufacturer of Kraft Paper (Test Liner). Their achievements were substantial, including the successful delivery of 99 complete paper projects across India. This not only positioned Ruby Macons as an industry leader but also made it an attractive acquisition for global players.
In December 2012, Ruby Macons was acquired by the U.S.-based MeadWestVaco, now known as WestRock, a testimony to the Nathani family’s credibility and business success.
Mehali Papers: A New Chapter with a Clear Vision
With their return to the paper sector, the Nathani family launched Mehali Papers Pvt. Ltd. with a bold and focused vision. The company established a 250,000 TPA Coated Duplex Board mill, strategically located in Dahej GIDC, Gujarat, one of India’s key industrial zones. To ensure energy self-sufficiency and uninterrupted operations, a 10 MW Captive Power Plant was also installed alongside the manufacturing unit.
The mill commenced commercial production on 2nd December 2016, marking the official re-entry of the promoters into the paper industry with a modern, forward-looking facility.
Why Coated Duplex Boards?
In today’s competitive environment, coated duplex boards are a preferred choice for many industries—including packaging, printing, and FMCG—because they offer the ideal balance of printability, strength, and visual appeal. Whether it’s for folding cartons, boxes, or retail packaging, these boards allow brands to maintain high-quality presentation without compromising structural integrity.
Mehali’s focus on coated boards signals its intent to meet evolving market needs. With rising consumer expectations for packaging that looks premium and performs well, coated duplex boards have emerged as a reliable and versatile solution.
The Mehali Edge
What sets Mehali apart in a competitive industry is not just its products—but the legacy behind its leadership. The promoters bring with them:
Decades of technical expertise
Proven business acumen
A spotless industry reputation
Their success with Ruby Macons gives Mehali a unique advantage: a deep understanding of operational scale, customer requirements, and quality control. It’s not just about manufacturing paper—it’s about delivering value that lasts, project after project.
Looking Ahead
Mehali Papers is still a relatively young company in its current form, but its foundation is built on years of experience and hard-won trust. As the demand for durable, high-quality, and sustainable packaging continues to grow in India and beyond, Mehali is well-positioned to lead the way.
With its robust infrastructure, strategic location, and experienced leadership, Mehali Papers Pvt. Ltd. is more than ready to meet the rising expectations of the packaging industry—bringing together the best of legacy and modern industrial practices.
Conclusion
Mehali’s coated duplex boards are not just about paper—they’re about performance, reliability, and the quiet strength of a legacy that understands what the market needs. As packaging becomes more central to branding and logistics, companies like Mehali are stepping up to deliver solutions that go beyond the box.
In a world that demands both strength and style, Mehali delivers both—sheet by sheet.
